Weekend Brief Last Event:
What a fantastic weekend that was. The weather was
perfect. Well, except for the wind blowing straight into the clubhouse
area and over us all – carrying the dust with it. 42 Competitors
Saturday and some 442 starts and 32 Competitors Sunday with 461 starts.
We even managed to pull off Twilight Saturday night with 82 starts. That
makes 985 runs over the weekend and at 2 kilometres a lap it was 1970
Kilometres of racing with the track not looking much worse for wear.
I would like to thank all that helped make this weekend happen.
It was a great effort and was run really well, it’s a credit to you all.
Special mention needs to go to Ruth Vallence and
Carolyn Donnan you guys did a awesome job of the catering. The food was
very, very good. Some people complained that it was that good that they
had to keep going back for more and more to the detriment of their
waistlines. And, it was great to see you had a few helpers over the
weekend even roping in Leesa Melton who was visiting from Shepparton as
well as Cath and
Aria Middleton. You all did an amazing job.
It was also great to see so many
people enter from far and wide, Hope you all had a great weekend.
Vist from River Gums
Venturer Unit
It was great to have the guys and gals from the River Gums Venturer
Unit who are based at Kyabram come up and spend the weekend out at the
track. Some of these guys and gals had never driven a car before but
were keen to get out and give it a crack..... and a they certainly did
an awesome job. A great bunch of young people and you guys are welcome
back anytime. Enjoy the pics, feel free to tag and share around. I'm
sure I missed getting some pics of everyone, that just means you will
have to come back again so I can get you next time.
Lyn Andrew
Swan Hill Kubota RTV
How good was this little ripper thank you very much to theguys and girls
and Swan Hill Kubota for leand it was fantastic
Race Report:
On track there were some sheep stations up for
grabs. With the club championship season for 2017 drawing to a close
with only the December round to go, and with some very close competitors
it was on with some swapping spots. LikeClass J 1st place
changing hands from Karli Vallence to Blair Clue
who was on fire all weekend with Karli suffering car troubles all
weekend.Class P’s with Shane Cluejust holding off Terry Ingram to be
still separated by only 1 point after Terry got a first and a second and
Shane getting a second and first.
So with only one round left there are a few people safe in the
championship but there are some spots that still could change hands. We
will just have wait and see how it plays out after our final round of
2017season on December 3rd
A full run down on current points is available at

Having a look at the data you can see there was
some great battles going on all over the Classes. But, Class P really
had it going on; 3 different position only separated by less than a
second over the 4 laps. One of those, the current leader of class P just
pipped by the second place holder and the Sunday saw them both go the
other way with Shane getting over the top of Terry.
The girls, Anita King-Gee and Karli Vallence where
talking it up between them but Karli was plagued by car trouble and at
one stage was driving a borrowed ride from Carolyn Donnan
with Sunday going to Anita as well. It looks like Karli is still
going to be well placed in the club championship. But look out next
season Anita, Karli will be on a mission from the car gods.
Neil Albert found it pretty lonely at the top this
weekend with only entry in Class C. In his Get Reel Productions Hyundai
Excel but he was flying and having a ball just the same. He ended the
weekend with some bald front tyres, and there was a bit of that going
on. Jobbo had a new set on the rear of his Commodore and they looked
very second hand by the end of Sunday but he did get a class E win both
days, Also in class E, Jesse Schifferle in his very well prepared
Commodore and looks to now have a good handle on it after some initial
teething problems early on in the season.
Neil Donnan got another win in class D in his Ford
Focus on both days.
Some of the best sounds go to 3 people this time
out with Ian Johnson in the his V8 powered AWD Toyota Lexcen in class S
and yes that is correct. It sounds incredible and can be heard all over
the track. He got a first outright Saturday and a third Sunday,
likewise, Jesse Schifferle’s car a V8 powered Commodore could also be
heard all over the place and looks and sounds great. Greg Melton and his
son Lachlan from Shepparton brought over a very neat black Subaru WRX
class W car and those turbo cars just sound great when set up right and
this one did. It was a great sound. They did have a good weekend with
both enjoying some seat time in the car.
Speaking of class W, that is where the action was
with 10 competitors having a crack but Glenn and Craig William duking it
out. Craig taking out first on Saturday and Craig second and swapping on
Sunday with Jake Vallence taking out third on both days.

Toy Run 2017
Swan Hill Sporting Car
Club is supporting the Central Murray Swan Hill Ulysses Toy Run
(flyer attached) and are encouraging
members to make a donation at the November and December meeting. There
will be a box in the club room over the weekend if you would like to
donate an unwrapped gift for a child, teenager or adult as well as a
donation tin if you would prefer to make a cash donation.
Flyer
Please Read How to Enter
As the club continually grows and race day gets busier and busier, the
committee has recently reviewed how we currently process race entries on
the day to save double handling.
As you would know from previous emails the Club strongly encourages all
those entering to use the
MSA portal
for race entries of which almost 50% of the field are now doing.
To speed up the entry process on the day we are asking all those racing
to please get their car scrutineered prior to entering the club rooms to
complete your race entry.
If you have not entered via the portal then you can collect a copy of
the Supp Regs from Lyn Andrew from the club room. If you are taking a
passenger or are being a passenger on the day then you can obtain a
passenger form from Lyn Andrew also.
Please do not line up to see Lynne Paynter (event secretary) until you
have had your car scrutineered and have the scrutineer form, completed
the Supp Regs (please do not complete a hard copy if you have entered
via the portal) and a passenger form if required. You will also need to
have your MSA licence as well as your SHSCC current membership card.
You can go to SHSCC
website and download the
Supp
Regs (if not entered via the portal) and a
passenger form and complete prior to the day which will fast track
you to entering. If you are not entering via the
portal you
can complete the
Supp
Regs and
email to Lynne Paynter so we know you will be attending
eventsecretary@swanhillsportingcarclub.com.au
The Swan
Hill Sporting Car Club will, as of the August 2017 meeting, have EFTPOS
facilities at the track. You will be able to use EFTPOS to pay race fees
and to purchase food at the canteen (please note there is no cash
withdrawals). Cards accepted: Visa,
Master and Debit/Eftpos cards.
So you
are thinking of coming out what should I know.
First of all Cars
Your car is going to be scrutineered so it needs to
be safe we are going to check that is has no loose items inside. The
spare wheel and jack are removed, the battery is held in tight and the
positive battery terminal is covered; that can be done with tape. There
is a fire extinguisher bolted in and is reachable by the driver and in
date. Tyres need to be good and steering and braking should be good.
There should also be a blue
triangle marking the battery location and a red triangle front and rear
making the tow points. If unregistered should also have bonnet pins.
Full Spec in Technical section of MSA
The drivers
and passengers are the same, you must be 14 years or older and will need
to have a dot approved crash helmet, long sleeve shirt or jumper not
nylon, long pants - jeans are good and leather top shoes. So, the them
here is, stuff that does not burn easily.
To cover the legal bits we run under MSA
Confederation of Australian Motorsport and as such all drivers need to
be covered. So, a MSA licence is the go just to see if it is for you,
there is a thing called a day Licence at a cost of $25 – seniors and
juniors - which is then put towards a full 12 month one if you want to
continue. You also need to be a member of the club which is currently
around $45 for a single and $66.5 for a family per year but only after
your first time out there. Then there are race fees for the day $37 for
a single and $60 for a family living at the same address and is a
dependent.
Passengers need to sign a form but that is free and
passengers are only allowed in a Test and Tune event.
These are the basics for more details

Reminders
Race Day Clothing.
Drivers need to be aware that there are minimum standards for clothing
on race day and that clothing standards are part of the scrutineering
process. That means that if you are not dressed in your race gear when
the car is being scrutineered, then you will have to produce what you
are wearing. Below is a summary of what can and cannot be worn when
racing. If these standards are not met then you will not pass
scrutineering and will not be able to race.
Helmet
|
Must meet Australian standards. In good condition. No cracks,
dents or deep scratches and it cannot be painted. The lining
must be in good condition. Fasteners need to be in good
condition.
|
Clothing
|
Drivers and passengers must be dressed in clothing that covers
them from neck to ankle to wrists. The clothing can not be
nylon. For example, long sleeved Visy tops cannot be worn.
|
Footwear
|
Footwear can be either shoes or boots. Both need to have a
leather upper but can have elastic sides. For example, pull on
work boots are ok but nylon sneakers are not. Leather upper
sneakers/runners are ok.
|
Club Apparel.
Polo Tops, Sweats and Hoodies are now available to order from Blue Sky
in Swan Hill with club logo. Please allow adequate amount of time for
them to take enough orders to do a run. Prices for the clothing will
depend on the size. Logos are available for embroidery on the back
(large) and on the front.
How to become an
